Our Story
Sometimes good things fall apart, so better things can fall together.
How it Started
Little did she know that a volunteer opportunity in 2008 would become the vision for something much bigger.
It was in 2008 that Theresa began volunteering at Lifeline Family Center located in Cape Coral,Fl. It was a program unlike any other. This program was dedicated not only to preserving the lives of the unborn, but loving on the expecting mothers and giving them opportunities to not only become confident parents, but teach them the skills necessary to support their child. For 3 years, these mothers would have the support they needed as they learned what parenthood truly meant.
After a year of finding places to bridge gaps at Lifeline, Theresa’s family ended up moving and volunteering on site was no longer an option. Since being on campus was no longer possible Theresa would visit college campuses to create an awareness of the program’s availability.
In 2010, God laid it on the hearts of Theresa and her husband John to become foster parents. For the next 6 years they would host countless children in their home.
In 2018 Theresa and her family returned to Washington State where they again sought the Lord about what ministry opportunites and where he wanted to plant them. While Theresa wanted to get back into foster care, the Lord made it clear that this was no longer the ministry he desired her to be in.
After being prompted by the Lord, Theresa visited the local pregnancy centers in the Tri-Cities area hoping to find a program similar to Lifeline with the hope she would be able to volunteer. It soon was discovered that such a program was only not available, but non-existent to the area. Continuing to pray about what to become involved in, God continued to impress the vision of a maternity home on her heart. This is where Theresa began to see that her heart for fostering very much was intertwined with her heart for Lifeline. Theresa realized that ministering to these mothers is what could help prevent children from entering foster care by changing the cycle of abuse, poverty and neglect that comes when you are a single parent with no support. Providing opportunities that equip & allow healing to take place in a supportive and loving environment was just what this area needed. As with everything that God had shared, Theresa’s next thought was, “Awesome Lord who is going to do it? I would love to come alongside!”
“Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.”God never calls the equipped, but rather He equips the called, so here we are.
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Looking Forward
In sharing the vision with others in our area, it has been exciting to see the encouragement and acknowledgement that the program has the opportunity to fill a void in services. Over the course of 2019, the Lord brought together a board of directors that are passionate about this opportunity to serve their community. At the end of 2019 Beautiful Beginnings became an LLC. In the Summer of 2020, the IRS approved 501c3 status.
Current members working to bring this vision of hope to life in the Tri-Cities are Theresa Park- President, Shannon Hinton- Vice President, Kylee Barrington – Secretary, Danielle Zlatich- Treasurer, Financial committee lead & Board Member Rich Parker
We are so excited to see what the Lord does!
