Our Story
He makes everything beautiful in its time.” — Ecclesiastes 3:11

How it Started

In 2008, Theresa began volunteering at Lifeline Family Center in Cape Coral, Florida—a program that left a lasting impression on her heart. Lifeline not only championed the lives of the unborn, but also came alongside expectant mothers with love, guidance, and practical support—equipping them to become confident parents and build stable futures for their children.

This experience deeply shaped Theresa’s understanding of what is possible when a young mom is surrounded by consistent support and community.

After relocating, Theresa remained passionate about serving vulnerable families. In 2010, she and her husband John became foster parents, opening their home to children in need for the next six years. This season further deepened their shared desire to be part of breaking cycles of instability and creating safe, nurturing environments for children and families.

For John, this calling was also deeply personal. As a teenager, shortly after the loss of his father, he faced the reality of becoming a parent at just 15. In the midst of grief and without the support or resources needed, the decision was made for his daughter to be placed for adoption—shaped by pressure and circumstances that left little room for his voice. That experience left a lasting impact, giving him a deep understanding of what it feels like to walk through life-altering moments without guidance, support, or stability.

In 2018, Theresa and her family returned to Washington State and began seeking the Lord for what ministry He was calling them into next. While her heart initially leaned toward returning to foster care, God began to redirect their path. As Theresa connected with local pregnancy centers in the Tri-Cities, she searched for a program similar to Lifeline—hoping to once again serve young moms in that capacity. Instead, she discovered a significant gap: there was no maternity home in the area offering long-term, supportive housing and life-skills development for pregnant and parenting young women.

Through prayer and discernment, God began to bring clarity. The heart they had for foster care and the impact witnessed at Lifeline were not separate callings—they were deeply connected. Supporting mothers before crisis could help prevent children from entering the foster system by addressing the root challenges of instability, lack of support, and generational hardship.

What began as a question—“Who will do this?”—became a shared calling.

Beautiful Beginnings Family Center was born out of that calling: to create a Christ-centered home where young mothers and their children can experience safety, healing, and transformation—and where one generation’s story can be changed for the next.

“Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.”God never calls the equipped, but rather He equips the called, so here we are.

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Looking Forward

In sharing the vision with others in our area, it has been exciting to see the encouragement and acknowledgement that the program has the opportunity to fill a void in services. Over the course of 2019, the Lord brought together a board of directors that are passionate about this opportunity to serve their community. At the end of 2019 Beautiful Beginnings became an LLC. In the Summer of 2020, the IRS approved 501c3 status.

Current members working to bring this vision of hope to life in the Tri-Cities are Theresa Park- President, Cecelia Mauseth- Vice President,  Deborah Borgens – Secretary, Danielle Zlatich- Treasurer,  Emily Munoz – Social Media & Marketing Board member, Diane Call- Board Member  & Jeff Brown – Board Member

We are so excited to see what the Lord does!
